People Focused Futures Framework | Aurecon

The Brief
This project is an opportunity for you to explore a complex real-world problem space in-depth and build a close relationship with an industry partner over the semester. Develop a response to Aurecon’s industry challenge by analysing various dimensions of the challenge, coming up with creative insights that push the boundaries of current practice and persuasively communicate the potential value of your proposed response to your partner.
The Problem
Is it possible for regional communities traditionally founded on resource extraction to transcend that dependency and become diverse, independent economies, each with their own emerging identity and living legacy? What might these post-mining futures look like through the lens of systems innovation and how might we get there?
The Solution
Our team focused on developing a People Focused Futures Framework that enables communities to better participate in designing their post-mining futures. Without people, legacy simply cannot exist. It’s a combination of the past, present and future, influenced by the messages, actions, values and histories of a group of people, or in other words, legacy is created by community.
